Moment in Women’s History…

On November 21, 1922, Rebecca Felton became the first woman to serve in the United States senate.  At 87 years old, Felton took a seat in the Senate as an interim appointment of the Governor of Georgia she addresses the Senate the next day and then yields her seat to Walter F. George, the elected successor.  To this day in 2010, she is the only woman to have served as a senator from Georgia.
