Stem Cell: Cure for AIDS (?)

Thanks to a former student of mine, Joseph Weathersbee, for sharing this story.  Apparently there is some good news with guarded optimism in the world just  after Worlds AIDS Day.  Timothy Ray Brown, now known as the “Berlin Patient,” is an HIV + man that had a stem cell transplant and appears to have been cured of HIV.  There are currently over 33 million reported cases of HIV worldwide. Aside from this being phenomenally good news, it also underscores the need to continue stem cell research, regardless of what right wing Christians, like George W.
