“Gays Defying God”: How Dare We Expect Equality

22 Jan

Broadus spends a lot of time thinking about gay sex

Robert Broadus, of  “Protecting Marriage Maryland,” speaks at length about how “The Gays” could have had a civil union “that we offered them, but no. The Gays have to defy God and have to redefine marriage–they are attacking marriage.”  Wow!  I had no idea we were attacking marriage.  How ironic that an African-American man has the chutzpah to talk about how we should have been thankful to have been offered some “Separate but Equal” legislation.  How dare we expect full equality–how uppity of us.  Sorry you bigot Broadus, but why do you get to decide what I’m allowed to have? I would absolutely love to know how specifically does my marriage to my husband threaten your heterosexual marriage?  Are you afraid you will run out and find a man to be with because gay marriage is so seductive and tempting?  Full marriage equality has NO impact on your heterosexual marriage–this is a matter of civil rights.  Click here to see the video and article.

According to dominant Christian theologist thinking, human beings are inherently in a state of sin (‘against god’), thus we all need the ‘Grace of God’ to enter heaven. We are all (every single one of us), always in an imperfect state.
Does this mean we should deny all human beings every basic right under the argument that we are all ‘defying god’?

Why isn’t he rabidly anti-divorce? That (divorce) seems to be attacking marriage more than gays wanting equal rights.

I truly do not understand why African-American Civil Rights leaders are not leading the charge here and rather, most have come out *against* Civil Rights for homosexuality. Civil Rights are Civil Rights for *everybody*!

I love what you said about divorce: “Why isn’t he rabidly anti-divorce? That (divorce) seems to be attacking marriage more than gays wanting equal rights.”
