LGBTQ Issues and Art in Portland

15 Sep

There is an opportunity to see some great art and hear live poetry in Portland, Oregon, this Saturday morning. My friend CJ Hurley is not only a visual artist, but composes poetry as well. In fact,  S. Alexander Smith, author of Of Drag Kings and the Wheel of Fate, and Burning Dreams will perform a dramatic reading of the poetry CJ wrote to accompany his paintings for this exhibit.

Smith’s publisher,  Bold Strokes Books, acomplished a LGBTQ publishers first by becoming recognized by the Romance Writers of America. Click here to learn more about CJ’s art and where the exhibit is being hosted. This Saturday’s event is free to the public and Smith will be signing copies of her books. Doors open at 10:30 am at Architectural Heritage Center, 701 SE Grand Ave. What a perfect way to start your weekend, art and poetry combined. My husband and I had the great pleasure of attending the grand opening of CJ’s current exhibit and you are in store for a real treat.
