Yet another report has been released regarding children from same-sex homes as opposed to children from different sex homes. Guess what? We now have more research and more reports showing that:
Children raised by gay or lesbian parents are indistinguishable from those raised by straight parents except in one measure — they tend to be more open-minded.
What? Open-minded well-adjusted children coming from same-sex households? What’s next? These children will end up growing into adults that fight racism, misogyny, and homophobia and then where will we be? These kids might end up like Zach Wahls! I will have nothing more to blog about if these kids, soon to be adults, eradicate poverty and discrimination.

Michael, we all know that gay parents produce gay kids and that straight parents produce straight kids… wait a minute… I’ll need to recalculate..
That was lovely and made me smile!
I have to just let you know, we have so many gay couples adopting children in foster care! It’s a wonderful thing!
Michelle, thank you for the very encouraging news!
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
I’m glad you liked the article! Thank you.
A 24-year longitudinal study of lesbian parents recently reported that none of the 78 adolescents in the study reported physical abuse or sexual abuse, compared to reported rates in the general population of 26% and 8.3%.

And I only have anecdotal evidence immediately at hand, but I’m reasonably certain that gay couples are far more likely to adopt older children, and children with severe disabilities, than are straight couples. A story from a few months ago about a particularly heroic example of that phenomenon is one of the most memorable newspaper features I’ve read in years. It is long, but well worth the investment of time:

Jay, thank you for adding more statistics and for adding the link about the Ham family. It is so obvious that Roger and Steven Ham were simply designed to be parents and they are wonderful parents. But Oy! 12 kids! I’m tired just thinking about having 12 kids in my house.
