Misogyny and the NYPD

2 Jun

Many of you may have been following the rape charges brought against two New York City police officers, and are aware of the tension caused by their acquittal.  In this article in Truthout by my friend James Russell, we see not only the tension and misogyny of the day, but the issue of activism.  Have we become selfish? Apathetic? Or are we just on overload? I believe the common phrase du jour is “not enough bandwidth.”  The acquittal seems scary in a whole host of areas.  Contextually, the acquittal comes at a time when women’s health rights are under attack and many conservative voices have had the chutzpah to create a culture of blaming the victim in cases of rape. Click here  to see the article by James Russell.
