Last chance to elect Romney!

28 Nov

Sheryl Nuxoll, brewing some bitter tea!

Yep, you read that headline right. The most toxic elements of the teabag loon parade have finally admitted that they really (no, REALLY) don’t care  about democracy. They just really (no, REALLY) want their guy to win. So what if he’s a hypocritical, vacillating windbag with no morals or ideals of his own, at least he called himself a Republican and tried hard to hate gays, women, and brown people on a regular basis. A wearisome wave of wingnuts have hatched a plan to stop that nasty Kenyan Socialist President in his tracks…THE 12th AMENDMENT. Oy ist mir! I have such a headache!

The idea (if it can be given such a noble label) has been floating around for a few days, but it took a state senator from Idaho to really crystalize things. Starting with a tweet (140 characters may be all she knows), Sen. Sheryl Nuxoll, R-Cottonwood, pushed an article on how to keep Obama from getting a second term. It boils down to having at least 17 of the 24 states that gave Romney electoral votes refuse to participate in the electoral process. That would eliminate a 2/3 majority of the states and (according to Nuxoll) throw things to the Republican-controlled U.S. House.

One teensy little problem with this plan. It won’t work. The majority required only matters in the House itself, after the Electoral College meets. If electors don’t show up, their votes don’t count, and the President wins by a >ahem< wider margin — oops. Reading is a pesky business. The right wing really only likes selected parts of the Constitution (or the Bible, for that matter), so perhaps we can forgive Sen. Nuxoll for her somewhat — shall we say — overenthusiastic efforts.

What’s more disgusting about this blatantly hopeless nonsense is what it says about the Republican mindset. Before the election we had Repbulican officials in Pennsylvania and Florida admitting that the only reason they were trying to stop “voter fraud” was to keep Democrats from voting and give Romney an edge. When that didn’t work (at all, given that both states went for Obama again), the whining babies of Lossville admit that they don’t care about the process, just the win. Who cares if the people voted for a President? We can use dirty tricks to steal the election! That mindset really says all we need to know.

Olympian Arrogance…

11 Feb

Olympia Snowe, (R-ME) has displayed such arrogance in the past four years that I have been in awe of her ego.  I can just picture Sisyphus pushing Olympia’s ego up the hill.  Democrats have courted her and kissed her nether regions in order to serve the public good, which she thinks she comes out smelling like a rose. Sorry Olympia, you smell pretty sour to me. Now Ginny’s Tea Party is going after her seat in the Senate. The writing is on the wall, Olympia.  You will lose to the Tea Party candidate locked in a straight jacket, who will lose the general election to the absolutely whacked out Republican candidate.  Congratulations, Olympia. Your ego has now allowed Maine to be an anti-woman, anti-gay, and right wing nut state.  You, Blanche Lincoln, and Uncle Joe Lieberman need to have your own private Tea Party and have a history lesson by Michele Bachmann. Cick here to see the full article.

Ginny’s Tea Party: A Bitter Brew

5 Feb

“I can’t be a racist. I’m married to a black man,” is something Virginia Thomas has to say quite frequently these days, with her newly SELF-APPOINTED position as “ambassador to the Tea Party Movement.”  Yes, I’m sure you all remember our charm-free Ginny, who, after 20 years, called up Anita Hill and demanded an apology for telling the truth about how Clarence Thomas sexually harassed her. According the NYT article, Virginia Thomas said on said on libertyinc.co, a Web site for her new political consulting business,

that she saw herself as an advocate for “liberty-loving citizens” who favored limited government, free enterprise and other core conservative issues. She promised to use her “experience and connections” to help clients raise money and increase their political impact.

“Liberty-loving citizens”–hmm, unfortunately that does not include us homos, or those of us that are pro-choice, or those of us that wish to stop giving tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans.  If you have been following this blog, you know her husband a Justice on the Supreme Court has already used his celebrity and influence to raise money for the Tea Party (old cranky white man party), which is a violation of ethics for justices.  Of Course, legal ethicists worry that Ms. Thomas’s effort to take a more operational role on conservative issues could intensify questions about her husband’s ability to remain independent on issues like campaign finance and health care.  Gee! You think so? What a dynamic duo: a self-loathing black man who has over-assimilated into the white dominant culture (identification with the aggressor) and a white privileged woman that won’t have to worry about the anti-woman legislation being introduced because her money will protect her.  Click here to see the NYT article.

We sure do love some white wealthy people. Anita, we are still waiting for an apology!

Angry White Man Takes Over New Hampshire With His Tea bag…

Angry White Man at War with the Democrats

Really?  Really?  Jack Kimball is the new Chair of the Republican Party for New Hampshire?  I’ve always known New Hampshire was conservative, but I never regarded the state as crazy.  Now they are giving voice to an angry white man that says Glenn Beck is his hero.  What kind of morally bankrupt state are we in when a comment like that gets you votes? “Hi, I’m an angry white racist who loves Fox News and loves Glenn Beck–wow, look at me.  I’m the new Chair of the Republican Party for the state of New Hampshire.”  Kimball says “we are at war.”  His exact words: “We are in a war and we are going to win it,” Kimball said. “We are going to pull ourselves from the brink. We are going after the Democrats the whole time.” Unfortunately, the “war” he is referring to is a war against Democrats.  This man is not concerned with the war in Iraq, or the war in Afghanistan, but he is declaring war on the Democrats–wow! Lovely language of violence in the wake of Tucson.  Where is the concern for the poor, the homeless, the people without jobs?  Really?  This is the best you could do, New Hampshire?  Click here for the full article, if you can stomach it.
